Don’t Quit! Don’t Give Up! God Wants to Heal You

I serve a God who CAN, who IS, who KNOWS ME, who sees you, who lifts up the broken and calls things that are not as though they are, who recreates, creates, mends and heals. People are astounded by the things He does because it is super natural – over what we expect! Joy comes when we see how real he is.

I pray that you see him to day, that you ask and believe that he has the answer for you life. He has already won the victory over every power of darkness and has given believers his authority. Do you know how powerful what you have is? Look at Jesus! We’re told we will do greater things than even he did.

So, in your situation, in the place you feel defeated, clear your heart, you mind and your preconceived notions, and ask God today, “Lord, what is the truth about this?” Believe what he says. Let that change your outlook so you come into agreement with heaven instead of partnering with the plans of hell. (sounds dramatic -but we do it)…The enemy is the one who comes to steal, kill and destroy. Yes, there could be reasons you are sick, or that bad things happened. That doesn’t mean they are God’s plan for your life. There was no sickness before the fall and Jesus is the end of the curse for those who believe.

Don’t give up on God’s promises! Seek Him and examine what you believe. We can believe in God, yet not believe in some of his promises because our experience hasn’t aligned with it. This gives the enemy room to manipulate our lives. Those words in red letters are said by the one who is the “visible image of the invisible God.” His actions show what God’s will was. Jesus didn’t turn people away when they came to him for healing, but sometimes they had to continue to believe, even when they didn’t fully get it, like in the story of the 10 lepers. Nine received healing, but ONE received wholeness, because of his returning to give thanks, then he got more blessing for acknowledging what had already happened.

He gives us free will and gave your ancestors free will. Many choices have been made around us and by us that haven’t lined up with God’s will. Just like Adam and Eve empowered Satan with one choice, is there one choice you or someone has made that has denied God’s truth as Jesus presented it? Repent of those choices, break every vow of agreement you’ve made with the enemy. Maybe you’ve believed or declared that you’ll “always” have something, or that you’ll “never” receive something. Do you believe the report of man, medicine or of God? How many people have said, “It’s going to be along painful road ahead.” That is a declaration of your faith! Did you know that! With our mouth we speak blessings and curses. Life and death are in the power of the tongue, so ask God, what words have I said that have empowered my situation. What do I expect in this situation? That is the measure of your faith. Then, if you’ve seen doubt in your answer, repent – CHANGE THE WAY YOU THINK! – Receive His forgiveness and believe in his redemption. He hung sickness and disease on the cross with sin. (Isaiah 53:4, Mark 8:17) If you believe he canceled your sin, then he cancelled your sickness as well in the same act. It was pretty simple in the Bible. They heard Jesus was coming, knew he healed people and lined up to get touched by him. That is still happening today, through many of his servants. Find one who believes and get in their line. That is all the faith he required.

Sometimes we don’t get it, we don’t understand why healing didn’t happen today. Persevere! Seek to have greater faith. Don’t let pride get in your way. Pride says “I believed and it didn’t happen, so it must not be God’s will.” I humbly ask you to consider, “Did you have the confidence and faith of Jesus when you asked? Did your faith look like his? Was your heart in complete forgiveness as his was on the cross?” There are times when I have had faith to declare. “Watch this!” knowing fully that God was going to do just what I was going to ask. There are times when I have prayed with little faith, yet still believed God heals. Faith and it’s presence is an amazing mystery. It’s a treasure we seek. Jesus lived with an active gift of faith and says we are to grow into his fullness. He looked at God’s nature and character and revealed it in his actions. He knew what the Father would do. That is faith. There are times I’ve felt like that, but in painful moments, hard moments, I haven’t always had that faith and I doubt you’ve always had it either. We don’t always have the answers, but God expects us to grow in faith and not give up. Don’t change the theology of the Bible or add to it. He is the same, yesterday, today and forever.

If you have prayed and not been healed, find someone who believes you will be and ask them to pray for you.  I can believe Jesus heals people but not believe he will heal ME. That is not uncommon. If I don’t have faith for something, I find someone who does or who can instill it in me! I follow the advice in Romans 12:2 “be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” I pray, “Lord, where does my mind need to be renewed?

One other question I ask, “Is there unforgiveness in my heart toward someone around this situation? Is there bitterness rotting my bones? Show me and align my thinking with yours. Make me perfect in love.” Jesus forgave all with great generosity when he said, “Forgive them, they don’t know what they do.” Regardless of our sin background, which God erases when we turn from it, he expects his followers to have hearts of forgiveness. Matthew 18 says that if we don’t forgive AS we have been forgiven, with that measure of love and generosity, we will be turned over to the tormenters. Unforgiveness is COSTLY.  Outside of that, coming to Jesus in repentance brings wholeness, body, mind and spirit. We get what we believe for. “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and ALL these things will be added to you as well.” God made you to be amazing! To reach the world with your gifts and talents, to be a blessing. You can still be a blessing when you feel sick, or have physical conditions, but if you want to be healed, seek the healer and stand of the high price he paid with his body on the cross. It was enough. It was love embodied in a  man. It was your sin nailed in his hands and weighing on his heart. It was the price to bring you back to the Garden of Eden, to the image of God. When we feel his love, it is truly hard not to let go of the bitterness that binds us. I pray you feel that love today, that it washes over your very being and lifts up your soul.

Every promise of God is YES and Amen – done – in Jesus. Who will you believe today? God promises abundant life in John 10:10. What doesn’t look like that in your life. Stand on God’s promises and set your standards to the standards of Jesus’ ministry. If it worked for Jesus, it should work for you. We are to RE-present him and be clothed in him.

Doing Hard Things – God Blesses Those Awkward Steps of Faith

Two days of ear pain during our week off. It was a bummer. This morning was day three and I now had constant ringing in my ear. I’d been praying continuously for myself and for others while down on the couch with no relief. I decided I’d go to the Medpoint and just have them look in there. So I went and on the way there said, “Lord, if I’m going to go this place I’ll bet there are some sick people who will need prayer there.” I prayed faintly for courage to do something about that, and for divine setups. I checked in and sat down.

It wasn’t an inviting atmosphere full of sunny people with smiles. Where do you start, everyone is sick. Do I have to do this? – I thought briefly. I knew that the best medicine for my own pain was being obedient in praying for other people to be healed. AND..The thought of how I’d feel if I went home having done nothing was flashing through my mind. The thought of the later conviction I’d feel if I missed this opportunity was far worse than the thought of HOW I was going to invite all these non-responsive looking people to get prayer. It would be like the feeling of having money in your pocket and passing by one of those people with the cardboard signs. I heard myself think – God has healed so many of my afflictions that if I am going to stay sick long enough to have to come to this waiting room, I must be assigned to do something.

For many years, I have done the usual thing, sitting in the waiting room and not letting anyone know that Jesus, the Great Physician was alive and had sent me here that day to do something. I knew God healed and that he would heal, that he’s excited to heal people – now!

You know, it’s Easter tomorrow. Have you ever thought about the reality that Jesus is alive – like alive! I had to remember that today.

Across the room there was a woman who looked miserable. I found my moment. I stood up and casually said, addressing the whole room, sort of awkwardly, “Since we’re all here because we’re sick, who needs prayer for healing, after all, it’s Easter. It’s a good time to pray.” —I’m sure Jesus would have had a better opener, but he’d have to work with my level of wisdom.

This was the first time I’d tried this in a hospital waiting room, but I’d always wanted to do it. So I said it. I said my awkward opener. Guess what, NO one jumped up and said, “Hey, start with me!” It was one of those awkward moments, where people slightly look at you and you are not really aren’t sure of what they are thinking —- but — are we supposed to care about what people think of us, or are we supposed to do what Jesus said to do.  I could have said, “God is going to heal people in the waiting room today!” If people were in line waiting, I’d have faith for that, but like Jesus in Nazareth, I had no idea if anyone would let me pray for them.

As I sat there looking around for eyes with invitation in them, Easter expectation was in my heart and I remembered the simple commands Jesus had left. “Go, heal the sick and tell them the Kingdom of heaven has come near you.” (I was saying this to myself in my slight nervousness.) Confidence came from past experience. I knew that if I had something that wasn’t getting healed, praying for other people would be the way to war against it.

In spite of all of the disinterested looks, and blank stares, I sat down and looked at the miserable woman across the room. She looked at me. She was too miserable to not want prayer, I knew in my heart. After a while she said, “I’ll take prayer.” So we had a great conversation and she and her daughter were really happy to get the prayer. We prayed for this pain that moved all over her body, her lungs and congestion. She was feeling quite a bit better and looked way better.

A God moment was soon to intervene – On the way out, I spotted a cheerful face of someone I knew. We had met once before. At the checkout I asked what they were there for. Her husband was in constant pain. They were talking about how frustrating it was to be on this medication with no sign of permanent relief. I told her that I wanted to pray for her. She said this must be a divine appointment! (I felt like this was God patting me on the back for hanging in there that day.) We found a corner cubby in the waiting room and asked God to come and heal. The man’s formerly unmovable ankle could now move. While I was praying, I had a tiny twinge in my lower back. Ah ha.. I thought. This could be a word of knowledge from God. I asked him if he had back pain in that spot and he DID. So I prayed for God to heal that and asked him to bend over. Pain gone. Yeah God.

I get in the car to go home, thanking God and noticing that my ear pain was almost completely gone. I felt almost great!

Now I’m believing God is rewarding me. Next divine setup – I go to the CVS to get the prescriptions. (I get them anyway.) I get a message from my husband saying he’s on the way to the camper with the boys to clean it out, since we were hoping to sell it.  At the same time, I had a voice mail from a lady who wanted to see the camper. How convenient! As I’m pulling out of the neighborhood to go up there to meet them, the thought comes to me, “Go back for the title.” So, I do. The couple meet us there and are enthusiastic Christians. They said our camper was by far the best that they had looked at. I said, “I brought the title if you want it.” She said, “We want it.” Yeah. She was so happy she cried! They will be great witnesses in this spot and are a perfect fit for it. As we talk about the kayak, we learn that the man has back trouble so it may be hard to lift. I said, “We need to pray for you!” They were very excited about that – things are looking so vastly more encouraging better than my initial step of faith in the waiting room this morning. His wife says, “He’s a mess!” I start out praying for his back and then asked him to bend down. He could touch his toes and said it felt good. His wife said, “He’s deaf in both ears with 70% hearing loss.” My husband put one hand on one year and I put my hand on the other while he commanded the ears to open in the name of Jesus. OPENED! We tested his hearing in the mid-range up to 15 feet away and he could hear clearly. His foot had trouble too; bone spurs caused him a lot of pain. My husband told my 16 year old, that it was his turn. He bent down and put his hand on the man’s foot and prayed an awesome prayer over that foot. The wife had her hands on him at the same time. She jumped back and said her hands were burning hot. The man didn’t feel it but it was very encouraging how God was responding to that prayer. So I told her to put her hand on his foot and pray. She was just as able to pray for his healing as we were, I told her. His foot didn’t change right away, so we agreed we’d wait and see when it would be healed and I told her to pray for more if they needed to.

The day ends with Saturday night church, where a young man comes up for prayer. (There was another man who came up too, but I’ll share the most dramatic one.) He’s got a walker and a colostomy bag. He wanted prayer for healing and faith. I explained to him how the prayer process would go, to just open up to receive healing from God and to put his attention on his body and what was happening. We prayed for his heart, and for burdens to be lifted from the accident. He had a visible sign of relief. That was cool. Next, we prayed for his back, then his broken pelvis. His pain went to 50% of original, then down to ZERO. The nurse told him he had to use his walker. He said, “But I have no pain.” Those who were with him were not used to seeing instant miracles and continued to repeat what his condition was, that he couldn’t walk without the walker. He’d taken a few steps without pain. I told him it was fine to use it because it would be hard for them to understand and we did want him to follow the doctor’s orders. I wasn’t sure what exactly had happened in his total healing yet.  But – what an awesome day followed two miserable days of sickness.

Happy Easter! Jesus is alive! If he lives in you, I hope this will encourage you to let him walk with you and influence what you do. Believe what he said, “Go, heal the sick and tell them that the Kingdom of Heaven has come near you.” He doesn’t ask us to do things we couldn’t do. He said to go and that he would be WITH us always to the end of the age. That means that today he is with us, working miracles. He used multiple people – at least six different people to bring these miracles about! We all get to participate in sharing the love of Jesus in healing. Remember, He is WITH you. Share that hope today. I pray you would find courage to step into your own potentially awkward moments with the love of Jesus on your heart. I bless you with courage in times that seem like God is asking you to do  more than you feel you can. He is WITH you. You don’t do it, you invite the Holy Spirit and Jehovah Rapha, the God Who Heals, comes to your aid. Have faith. All things are possible for those who believe.

Healed by Releasing the Holy Spirit

Awesome testimony today! I can explain this one fully, because it happened to me. I’ve been suffering from this pain under my lower rib cage for some time and it seemed to be like something getting bigger and more noticeable. It sometimes seized and cramped up when I laid down. I had been ignoring it. This week I was thinking maybe I should go find out what was, but didn’t really want to and I wasn’t very convicted about the need for that. God’s my main health plan, even though I have insurance. I was just starting to think, “Maybe it’s something like a tumor?” My abdomen was a little bloated near my ribs and I felt “thick” like there was an obstacle, when I bent over – with some pain. I had previously thought it was my rib, but it became clearer that it was under it now. I am not one to worry about medical stuff in my own body, so I asked my husband to pray for it and went to bed.

Today in ministry class, we were releasing the Holy Spirit over people and and it was my turn to be prayed over. All one of my classmates did was say, “Come Holy Spirit” over me. We were just practicing observing what it looked like when the Holy Spirit came over someone. It’s amazing how willing the Lord is to come and teach us when we make ourselves available. Man, did he show up! It felt like a weighty presence was on top of me and I had to bend over. I began praying in tongues spontaneously and noticed the girl who’s hand was on me was trembling. I felt power and intensity.

While I was bent over, I started to feel the pain under my ribs. the area of pain began to tighten and swell and swell and swell and pain intensified until it felt like it was going to burst. For a moment i thought, “What if this thing explodes! Surely God wouldn’t let me get hurt.” Then, it just vanished. I don’t know what the thing was, but God does and it’s now gone! Praise him! There is no other life like the pursing God life…. And it is available to all. The best things in life are free! What a great lesson we learned today… Lots of them. God has a big tool box in the Holy Spirit. Praying may not are blessed in this way. Try releasing Holy Spirit over those you love who are sick. Wait for his presence to come and see what happens! Expect it to come. It comes by faith.

2013-11-24, There is no evidence of the pain or lump anymore, even in bed, when it used to cramp when I laid down. God, thank you for loving me! I also have lost 3 pounds and my abdomen is  thinner and has resumed its old shape. I’m so awed by His love for me and the power of relationship with my Father. He is good.

Passing on Spiritual Gifts: Laying on of Hands and Mentoring

There is nothing like being in the company of a lot of people who are abandoned to God’s purposes, or who at least are trying to be. We need the whole body of Christ! Even in our local churches, we don’t always see the complete body and all the gifts of the Spirit are not shared. God promises that those who are hungry will be filled and instructs us to seek in order to find.

I was reminded of Paul and Timothy. Paul imparted gifts and then mentored his followers in the use of those gifts. Those new in their walk had leaders passing on the practices of the faith, not just through laying on of hands, but also in instruction. Every ask questions like, “How exactly do you pray for the sick to get them healed?” or “What does the voice of God sound like if we are, indeed, all sheep and are supposed to be hearing his voice.” I had all those questions and more!

Paul wanted the apostolic teaching and imparting of gifts to continue generationally, just as Jesus did. That is why we have all of these Epistles. They don’t make much sense if you haven’t received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit yet. We don’t all have it from the moment of conversion, as some churches teach. It doesn’t come at confirmation, although it could. It doesn’t come at Baptism, although it could, and it doesn’t come from being the best at Bible studies. I spent most of my life reading the Epistles as history, but when I was imparted by the laying on of hands with a Baptism of Fire, those letters were my life! It was scary. It was wild. I was freaked out! It was like the advice included me.  Jesus was actually teaching ME how to heal the sick, like I was sitting with them. I felt fellowship with the early disciples and understood that we shared a common mission with the same directions. It was a big calling and God had imparted the power to do it, but I was still freaked out.

Ephesians 4:13 “until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”

As parents, we teach our children how to use tools, like a spoon, a pencil and a computer, but Paul taught his spiritual son, Timothy, how to use the greatest tool of all, Holy Spirit. He sent him to difficult places knowing that he had trained him to be mature. Our goal as parents and as members of the Body of Christ, is to help people reach “the whole measure of the fullness of Christ”.  Can you picture what that looks like? I know how Jesus walked; He did what He SAW the Father doing, so he saw into God’s heart, then He did miracles that reflected God’s will. He was the visible image of the invisible God and he said we are to grow up into that fullness!

I homeschool my kids and one year when planning time came, I was frustrated about the regular stuff that the world said we should fill our kids with. I wanted to do my best as a parent, so I asked God what I was to focus on over all. He said clearly, “Teach them to connect with My Spirit.” It was the most important parenting advice I’d ever received. Kids are born with spiritual availability until we talk them out of it out of ignorance. The church can actually kill childlike faith by bringing kids into the “real world” of logic and reason. They are naturally supernatural and have the greatest thing, child-like faith. They don’t doubt that they hear God. They just do. They see angels and point at things in the sky as babies. Who knew? I didn’t, until recently. I also lay hands on my children as they are ready to receive and when they are sick. Holy Spirit Band-Aids are free, since Jesus paid for them at the cross.

There is power given through the laying on of hands. Paul received an impartation from God himself and shared it with others. He said he longed to meet with people in person so he could share the gifts he received via laying on of hands. He was the picture of “freely you have received, freely give”. This didn’t just mean share our blessings. The church is called to some really mountain moving action. Here’s the text from Matthew from the mouth of Jesus himself.

Matthew 10:7-8 “As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.”

This is a command of Jesus and it is most certainly included when Jesus also told his disciples to go and make more disciples, teaching them to observe ALL that He commanded them. He also promised to be with them and the future disciples always, unto the end of the age. (Matthew 28:16-20) Sometimes we identify with the pre-Pentecost identity of the disciples, but we should be identifying with the POST-Pentecost life they led. This is the inheritance we have as the body of Christ himself.

I have learned so much from the gifted disciples God has brought me to this year. A Todd White video jumped out at me one day and showed me that God is still doing just what I suspected He should be doing, miracles! My son, moved by the Holy Spirit, said, “Mom, we have to see that guy!” Holy Spirit’s amazing timing placed a conference in my region 3 weeks later where I got to spend 3 days learning what it meant to be a daughter of God in a Kingdom that had power to manifest itself. God would use me because I was in His family. It took courage. It was humbling but I started to step out in faith, ready to fail and ready to see a miracle. Why? Because someone taught me that I could.

This is what Jesus commanded us. Go and teach them to do what I commanded you. Jesus is saying that the disciples received the power to do as Jesus did for them and they were to share it. In the church today, we sometimes feel boastful if we speak of our gifts, but others need to know what we have so we can impart them to the hungry. The laying on of hands isn’t just for ordaining leaders, it is also in the context of passing on spiritual gifts. Then, those who pass them on, show us how to use them.

There are some really good resources to teach you how to use the gifts of the Spirit. I started reading some things by Bethel Church in Redding. When you search in Google on Bill Johnson, you find all kinds of negative, slanderous warnings by “discerning” Christians. Some fear that the gifts manifesting today are counterfeit gifts. I had to learn more and I needed a mentor, so I looked at both sides and prayed. One day, I had two screens up. One was from a well known site that is decidedly non-charismatic in nature. It talked about the known heretics of the faith today. The other was about Bill Johnson and his five generations in family ministry, now six. I saw the fruit of the work and the amazing transformation of the people who had a capacity to love the unlovely and to actually bring help to them through the Holy Spirit’s power. That’s what Jesus did, wasn’t it? That is what that command was all about. Go and do likewise to the end of the age – until I come back. God grabbed my attention with this question. He asked me, “What fruit to you see on each of these two screens?” On one, I saw fear, condemnation and lack of power. On the other, flourishing ministry by a humble man who soaked and meditated on the Word daily and who was willing to look nutty for God if it drew Him closer to the heart of the Father.

Bethel Church in Redding has a site called It’s awesome. I finally found a place where people shared how to hear God’s voice with specifics. I learned that God speaks words of knowledge, sometimes by giving us a sympathy pain in our body! It’s not written in the Bible, but sure enough, I’ve gotten a pain in my body when I’ve passed someone in a store. Because I’d been taught that that could be God speaking to me, I have stopped to ask people if they have that same pain (assuming I don’t regularly have pain in that area of my body, of course.) Right there, God has healed them of all pain as I’ve prayed. The more amazing witness is that I asked them something I could never otherwise know without revelation from God.

If you’d like to read more about what a life that looks more like the Acts church. There is much to read and watch.

Useful links:

Global Awakening has books, schools, and conferences by incredible teachers. There are also full ministry manuals that will teach you how to use the gifts we already have via the Holy Spirit.

Here are a couple of my favorites:
1) “Essential Guide to Healing” by Randy Clark and Bill Johnson. This catapulted my understanding of HOW to heal the sick, not just ask God to help.

2) “There is More” by Randy Clark. This is all about passing down impartation of gifts and power of that practice. It also talks about the fallacies of cessationist teaching, meaning the belief that the gifts ceased or happen at God’s sovereign will. Many of us grow up with misinformation.

Come to me and I’ll make you new.

God keeps drawing me to Colossians 3. Verse 10 says that when we are in Christ we “have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.”

Putting something on means you don’t look like the old thing anymore, you change your appearance. Praise God. God also gives us renewed knowledge that is like His knowledge. This is why Paul said, “But we have the mind of Christ.” Don’t underestimate what you know. God has the answers and he lives in you. If Jesus lives in you, ask Jesus today out loud today and be simple. Listen to the answer you hear. If Jesus doesn’t live in you yet, if you’ve “heard” about Jesus, but really don’t have an intimate relationship yet with your creator, your Dad in heaven, there is so much more. God’s blessings are for his children. Sometimes we judge God because he isn’t blessing us when we are not even in the family. He has shown that he’s willing to give everything to find you, to give you new understanding, miraculous protection, divine favor, gifts that continue his work of healing and knowing what is on his mind. Surrender to him and you gain more than what the world can give you. You gain the creator of the universe at your access any time. He shifts what is unseen and calls things into being that are not. He is over all, in all and works wonders through his kids. Come and lay your life down. It’s not a game, it’s not church on Sunday, it doesn’t matter what you’ve done. Today is a new day. Open yourself to Jesus and he will fill you. He doesn’t force his way in, he is wants your love freely but works through any crack you will give him. The more you give him, the more he works in you. Open yourselves up to what he can do.

If you want this freedom, this blessing and favor, this amazing way of living, pray with me. Say, “Lord I want all that you have. I submit my every thought to you, my heart, my life. Take my mind and transform it. Give me your thoughts. Fill me with your Spirit as I eagerly desire the greater gifts. Cleanse me through and through. I renounce all that I was to be all that you want me to be. Now that I’m in your kingdom, I thank you for favor, that I’m one of your favorites, your kids. Your face gives me joy, it makes my heart sing. Show me how to worship. Show me how to pray. Just let me soul sing to you and let me please you in every way. Then, I’ll overflow onto others wherever I go. No power of darkness will stop me. No religious spirit will make me think less of you. I am free. Fill me with knowledge you have for me. Recreate how I think and let me walk in your shoes. I receive the gift of faith to understand all that you are.”
